Good morning, it’s Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Political commentators (me included) are trying to divine the effect, if any, the withdrawal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will have on the 2024 presidential campaign.
It’s unknowable at this time, of course, but worth consideration: Al Gore still wonders how many of the 22,198 Ralph Nader voters in New Hampshire would have chosen him over George W. Bush had the contest merely been a two-man race (in a state Gore lost by only 7,200 votes). Yes, New Hampshire’s three Electoral College votes would have given Gore the presidency in 2000.
