Donald Trump became president by flipping states no Republican nominee had won in nearly 20 years. This time he’s trying to win those same states back — but he also has the chance to pick up another target that’s long eluded the GOP.
Virginia has gone blue in every presidential election since 2004.
Four years ago, Trump lost the state to Joe Biden by 10 points.
Nobody considered Virginia a battleground this year.
Yet the most recent surveys show a state distinctly in play.
